What a perfect day to come out and confess the real behind the scenes of Mckillop uw ..

So we had a model who is now in the hospital , we called a friend of the photographer and he showed up and his look is very different then what we normally use. He is very manly and a bit of hair and he was manageable. then this hottie called ... well via pics i thought he was a hottie then he showed up and his abs were gone and too young. I think he would need an army of hair and make up to make it work. Then the manly model was re shot with different lighting and we decided to use him.

So you will be getting a very different Mckillop UW for the Daily collection.

One of the disadvantages to doing photo shoots via Skype between Vancouver and LA is that when the shit hits the fan I am not there. But this is manageable/ We are looking for a last min replacement model and have a few choices. But if they don't make the cut to be a Mckillop model we will have to reschedule. Which means no sweater jock pics today if we cancel the shoot.

But good news, since we are getting a late start for Feb we will be Extending our Sweater Jock - Limited Edition offer for the month of March too. Then as Disney says back into the vault it goes.

Confessions of an Underwear Designer Part2

As you know I don't keep too many secrets from you guys so I thought I would give you an update on the confessions video. When I made the video 6 months ago I mentioned that I was working Full time and took 6 months to work on the business full time and I was expected back to work on March 1 2012. So much has changed since then.

I have decided to jump into the deep end of the pool and learn to swim. Just before Christmas I bought a new type of sewing machine and since learning how it works I realized that I can pull off better results myself then China ever did. What better way to dive into self-employment then to start at the very bottom and do the work myself for the time being? Sometimes in life we need to take a step back to move forward is the philosophy I am banking on, but with that being said I have backup here In Vancouver in case I get too busy but I am going to be my own little factory for now.

The quality has increased and the new machine I bought allows me to expand the McKillop UW line of underwear to Include many new styles that I couldn't before. Today In LA I are having a photo shoot that was supposed to be for 2013 but I have decided to launch the collection earlier to allow you guys the benefits of out Daily Collection. This collection has almost every style you can imagine: I have briefs, trunks, boxers, long boxers, above the knee, capri, calve, long johns and PJs. I have a new jock and I tried to make you a thong but it was crap and I threw them out. Once I can design a better thong for you I will. And with all of that I have created our Limited Edition Collectors Series items for this year, starting with the sweater jock, some denim and leather for later in the year.

I will be offering the new line later this month. I am also not going to be doing mesh for this collection and I am veering away from mesh for the time being and I will be creating another brand for mesh fans very soon, I will keep you posted.

Last night as I was finalizing my decision to remove my safety net of a paycheque as of March 1st I looked at the calendar and in big black marker on Feb 29th it said LEAP (for leap year), and I said into the air OK I will!

So as I and McKillop UW take this big leap of faith I would like to send out my best wishes to all of you for helping make my dreams of becoming a commercial designer come true and I would like to thank you for your business and support of my brand.

I am here to Elevate who I am as well as help you Elevate who you are so my door is open.. if there is anything I can do please let me know!

Sexy New Mckillop Products coming out March and April

We are elevating ourselves to new heights, we are moving away from mesh and expanding our modal line to include briefs, boxers, trunks and a few butt lifters.

I have also been working on our Daily line which I might launch earlier then I had expected because I must say the new Brief design ... are my absolute fav's.

I am suposed to be making samples for the photo shoot on Tues but I keep stealing pairs for myself. To give you a heads up the new stuff ranges from briefs all the way down to long johns and every length in between. The one thing that is interesting is that I wasn't going to make a capri but I was suggested to give it a try. OMG I never thought a below the knee long john would be a good item to make but it is my favourite.

Let me get the launch dates in order and I will try to get them out to you asap.

The sweater jocks are flying off the shelves. Quite literally, I can't seem to keep any around. I am glad i took the risk and created them.

While our Mckillop factory is busy sewing the Sweaters I have been busy at my home studio coming up with 2013 stuff. I must say this industry is crazy in the sense that you have to think so far in advance. I thought it might be hard to do but the funny thing is that its very natural, once you make one collection by the time its on the market I've seen it for a year and I am bored and ready to make something new.

I wont get you all hot and bothered about 2013 just yet but I will tell you that it is more mainstream, Daily type underwear.

I am still using modal but I am thinking of leaning away from the mesh, it doesn't seem to be as popular anymore. Or maybe cause its the winter. Who knows, we will test it out in 2012 and see what you guys like.

Anyways I thought I would give you a little update. And I feel its necessary to apologize for being distant from social media, once the photo shoot next week is over I will be in full force again.

Hey guys, I am so sorry for not blogging as much lately. I have been taking advantage of the slow January Retail month by getting ready for all of the 2012 launches.

Which means 16 hour days stuck in photo shop. Last year I had my graphics team do the inserts for the bags but this year I decided to try my hand at photo shop myself... To all you graphics guys out there I must say your jobs are hard as anything.

I am also glad to get my hands dirty so I know each inch of my own business. I do like getting right in there because it means I will be a better communicator in the future.

So enough of that this is what I have been working on. Our 2012 Inserts, I hope you like them. I feel that tell the brands story better then last years.

As a proud Canadian blogger, I am passionate about sharing real-life stories from the LGBT community. Through my blog I have met and interviewed many influential members of the LGBT community from around the world. Through my interactions with these leaders I’ve come to learn and understand not all jurisdictions are equal. This demonstrates to me more work needs to be done to secure the basic human rights of gays, lesbians and trans-gendered people around the world.

As a role model to others, especially the many youth that read and follow my tales, I decided to compete in the Mr. Gay Canada competition to show others how anyone, including those from smaller, rural communities, can control their own destiny and lead successful lives. Through mentoring and blogging I have helped others ease their own journey into the LGBT community, and have taught others to be more open, accepting and tolerant of all lifestyles.

In my term as Mr. Gay Canada, I will continue to share my life journey, broaden my voice, and advocate for the rights and matters that impact the LGBT community, in Canada and globally. It is my goal to continue to motivate thousands of people in Canada and around the world, to deliver a positive influence, and raise awareness of events, activities and issues that affect the LGBT community.

From February 9-11, the finalists will compete in Whistler, BC at WinterPRIDE for the title of Mr. Gay Canada 2012. The finalists will be judged on:

A fashion runway show
Modelling photo shoot
Fitness challenge
Swimsuit show
Public speaking
Outreach for a local charity to give back to the host community
Online voting

Hi Guys, Things are in Hyper drive as usual... I hope that you are well and survived the holidays. I just wanted to let you know that the Trunks and Briefs have been sized and we are making samples for the photo shoot at the end of the month, and will be on sale in Feb.

Also I came across some fabric that I think you're going to love. It's a bit unorthodox for underwear so it will be a quiet launch for a one time collectors edition of our jock. I will let you know more as it becomes avail.

All I can say is Ski Bunny's drinking spiked hot chocolate by the fire in a chalet watch out we've got something for you!

Surprise you get a Brief and a Trunk From Mckillop UW

Ok I've got a huge surprise for you, I made the Traveller Trunk sample and decided while I am at it let's make a pattern for a Brief for the future... I fell in love, The Traveller Brief is like a second skin and it is so tiny, its as small as a roll of tape.

They are now my NEW Favourite Brief. lol Well of course they Should be .. but they are !!

So these are so amazing I am working 12 hour days trying to get this to you by .... you ready... THE END OF THE MONTH!!

Wish me luck though I still need to make inserts for the zip bags, have a photo shoot and have all of the fit models over to make sure they will fit you as good as they do me. Oh and make the goods of course lol

We have named our Trunk Design !!

So you all know that I have been working on a bonus design or if you didn't I will tell you a little bit about it.

So in June of 2011 all of our 2012 items were designed and photographed and I was looking forward to an easy year in the sense that everything was all ready to go... HA ! I forgot I work in fashion and things change all the time. So a month ago I made a decision to add a few more designs into the mix. First was a deconstructed Trunk that you could wear over your Mckillop Pouch (Mainly in the winter to keep your butt warm) I was going to call it the Winterizer but thats only good for 1/2 of the year. The other items were not supposed to be out until 2013 which are our DAILY wears ... Just a simple brief and fitted boxer for work etc.. but (in a spoiled little kid voice "But I want One NOW!! ") So I am pattern making in light speed to get these 3 items out.

I am aiming for Trunks in January (Pending photo shoot) and Butt Lifter collection as planned in Feb and the Daily Collection in the Spring. (I will hurry for you though).

Anyways this is what brings me to the NEW TRUNK, I finished the pattern yesterday and it is "off the hook" I love it! On it's own it has very little support but so natural of a feel, and made from Modal ... WOW so soft ( I love that fabric) but with the Pouch under ... I was in heaven. Then I felt the Trunk and noticed how small it was rolled up in my hand and it would be perfect for Travelling.

So the new name became The Traveller By Mckillop UW "Cause every inch counts" (In your suitcase that is lol)
I will start with this Trunk and expand from there to include other styles that fit within the Traveller theme.

I can't wait to show you.

The Best Christmas Breakfast- A Mckillop Family Tradition

Mckillop Family Christmas Wife Saver Breakfast

16 slices bread, crusts removed…..Use the crusts for dressing
slices of ham..get the slices at the deli…about 10 slices ¼ in thick
slices sharp (old) cheddar cheese….get them slices at the deli..
about 10 slices ¼ in thick
6 eggs
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. pepper
½ tsp. dry mustard
¼ cup minced onion
¼ cup green pepper, finely chopped
1-2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
3 cups milk
¼ lb. butter
Special K

In 9” x 13” buttered glass baking dish, place 8 slices of bread, add pieces
to cover dish entirely. Cover bread with slices of ham and cheese (alternate).
Cover with bread. In a bowl, mix eggs, salt, pepper.
Add mustard, onion, green pepper, Worcestershire sauce, milk and
a dash of Tabasco if desired. Pour over bread. Cover, stand in fridge overnight.

In the morning, melt ¼ lb. of butter and pour over top. Cover with flakes. Cook at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Let stand 10 minutes.

Strong US Dollar means Mckillop UW is Cheaper for you!

So when I purchased the fabric for the brief and boxer samples I noticed that my year long "discounted" American dollar was over. I must admit that for purchasing in the USA for me is frustrating now that your money is worth more then ours, but the best part is that for all of you it's like Mckillop UW is on SALE lol.

I find it ironic that when a recession is looming all the worlds media plaster the airwaves on the forthcoming doom, we hear it for months how horrible things are going to be and in exchange people don't spend and therefore the economy gets worse. But when the recession is over or things are getting better no one makes a big deal about it. (Cause if they did people would spend again and the economy would get better).

So I would like to make a big deal about it. The Canadian dollar is much lower then the USA Dollar !! whoot whoot things must be getting better. So live it up while it lasts my friends.

While the sugar plums dance over the holidays we are working on something that is a little unexpected. Our Modal is making people very happy and we intended to make a trunk and a butt lifter in feb but personally I want a boxer so I ordered more modal and over the holidays I am going to work on making a Mckillop Pattern for a boxer. So In 2012 there will be many more options then jocks and pouches. I am also sorry to hint about this so early but it takes time to make the perfect pattern and have photo shoots etc... so thanks for the patience.

Also for the Newsletter I took the weekend off to celebrate folding 5000 pairs of undies so I will get the newsletter out tomorrow I hope.

Folding maniac

Hey guys, I just wanted to tell you that over the past 4 months I have been sort of MIA (Missing in action) and for all good reason.. I have been folding 5000 pairs of undies into their zip bags, and wow that's an insane job, I thought it would be a lot easier. So I was so focussed on getting that done that I have neglected the Blog and I am sorry for that.

I will be sending out our Holiday newsletter this weekend. And we will be putting together some select colours and styles for our BOXING WEEK SALE. . . So exciting.

And as of monday now that the folding is done of the pouches and the jocks I can move on to our upcoming boxers and Briefs, getting the patterns ready and such..

So its been a very busy couple of months and I really Hope that this Dec you have had a lot of friends and family time.

Zeros that best addresses their situation.

The decision to go with the millennium development related goal of
“Getting to Zero” comes
after extensive discussions among people living with HIV, health
activists, broader civil society and many others – more than a hundred
organisations in all.

The vision for this year’s World AIDS Day and beyond may be
aspirational but the journey towards its attainment is laid with
concrete milestones.

10 goals for 2015.

Sexual transmission of HIV reduced by half, including among young
people,men who have sex with men and transmission in the context of
sex work;

Vertical transmission of HIV eliminated and AIDS-related maternal
deaths reduced by half;

All new HIV infections prevented among people who use drugs.

Universal access to antiretroviral therapy for people living with HIV
who are eligible for treatment;

TB deaths among people living with HIV reduced by half;

All people living with HIV and households affected by HIV are
addressed in all national social protection strategies and have
access to essential care and support.

Countries with punitive laws and practises around HIV transmission,
sex work, drug use or homosexuality that block effective responses
reduced by half ;

HIV-related restrictions on entry, stay and residence eliminated in
half of the countries that have such restrictions;

HIV-specific needs of women and girls are addressed in at least half
of all national HIV responses;

Zero tolerance for gender-based violence.

Hey Guys wow its been a crazy couple of weeks. we shot our "I am not a Label" Video and we have been editing and working on music etc.. A lot of work goes into a few seconds I must say.

Also we are in the middle of redesigning a few things on our Mckillopuw.com Site. I hope that it will be easier to use for you guys. It should be refreshed in the next day or so.

and lastly things are really heating uo here. we have put our plans into overdrive to get our trunk, boxer and a brief out to you sooner then expected. We thank you for your patience ! I know I have been talking about briefs for a long time and Valentine's was supposed to be the launch but working hard to get you a Trunk to Tie you over till then : )

Wish PTSD Survivors a lucky 11/11/11 11:11:11 Today!

Today is bitter sweet for me I am a little superstitious and I feel that 11:11 is a lucky number and today of all days is a date that only comes around every 100 years 11/11/11 11:11:11 can't get anymore lucky then today, so make a wish.

The bitter part of today is Remembrance Day in Canada and Veteran's Day in the USA and normally we remember the people that our countries have lost, this year I think we might want to change our focus.

I was watching Lisa Ling's Our America yesterday and she interviewed people that were affected with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and the fact that they return home so incredibly damaged; emotionally they cannot function. She went to the Veterans Crisis Hotline Centre in the USA and they mentioned that 18 veteran's take their own life in America every day. Also there are more casualties of soldiers killing themselves at home then in combat. With these devastating statistics we ask you to send them some love.

So today think of the men and women we have lost physically as well as the people that are losing their spirit at home and send them love and support that they heal themselves of PTSD and can begin to live happy healthy lives again. (if you know anyone that needs help in the USA 1-800-273-TALK and press #1 for Veterans hotline)

Mckillop Manufacturing- Bringing Jobs Home!

Wow it has been an adventure. Buying sewing machines and looking for people to work for us, I really haven't had too much time to blog or tweet lately.

I am so proud to be able to bring jobs home. Looking back at how we lost all of our jobs in North America to save a buck, created greed and high unemployment rates. I really hope that more companies bring jobs home.. yes things might get a little more expensive but we will all be working so we will be able to afford it.

Also many of these labor jobs most people didn't want to do so they left the continent, but the problem arises that you used to be able to start at the bottom and work your way to the top. Now you can only enter at the top and we have a new type of crappy labor job category processing crap into a computer.

I look at the jobs out there these days and they are so boring with no creativity and I reference it to the amount of people going to college and university studying for creative exciting jobs and what they are left with is working at Denny's.

I am not saying I can change the world but if all manufactures reduced greed they would all make more money in the end. So lets start a trend shall we?

ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in Canada and around the world. With their “Mo’s”, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer.

On Movember 1st, guys register at Movember.com with a clean-shaven face. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words, they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

At the end of the month, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas celebrate their gallantry and valor by either throwing their own Movember party or attending one of the infamous Gala Partés held around the world by Movember, for Movember.

The Movember Effect: Awareness & Education, Survivorship, Research

The funds raised in Canada support the number one male cancer, prostate cancer.

The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men’s health partner, Prostate Cancer Canada. Designer Ryan McKillop of Mckillop Brand U/W (the "U/W" stands for "underwear") has been a busy guy. His brightly colored, silky mesh briefs, jocks and thongs have become hugely popular over the last year. Indeed, since we last featured McKillop U/W on Gay.net, he and his models have made numerous club appearances, shot multiple photo shoots (incuding the pics you see here), and now he's designed a new line.

The Modal collection features similar cuts to last year's, but the fabric is less see-through, making it more legal for guys to offer someone a "peak" while wearing them out to a bar. Highly breathable, super comfortable, with some pretty solid support and an elastic strap that pushes your package forward, these might become even more popular than McKillop's original line. So we took a second to ask the designer about his new gear.

Redesigned both Mckuw.com and Mckillopuw.com to be easier to use. And what is really exciting we shot our first video last night with the help of our model/actor Andrew and Zophia Creative. It is going to be the start of Mckillop Elevating who we are and becoming the very best we can be.

My partner, Charles, and I own several pairs of McKillop underwear (mostly the Power Fitness Jocks and the Classic Pouch, Version 1.0)…and they are smoking hot! Version 2.0 is better than smoking hot…THEY ARE MAY-JOR! Here’s why:

1. Fabric: If you’ve ever purchased any McKillop underewar (pouches, jocks), the pouch portion that holds and lifts you up are made from mesh. This time around, Version 2.0 comes in two different fabrics: Mesh and Modal! The modal is a 92% Modal 8% Lycra mixture that has a slick, silky feel. The mesh is a 90% Nylon 10% Lycra mixture, which is finer and softer than ever!

2. Design/Style: Ryan pulled out all the stops here. In the previous incarnations, the “McKillop logo” was affixed on the side. Not this time around! The logo is right on the front so you know which brand of underwear are wearing! Also, the pouches are much wider and ‘everything can fit in it’s right place’.

2. Fit/Comfort: When Charles (my awesome partner) and I wore the new pouch, it was the most comfortable pair of underwear we’ve ever worn! The fabric is soft, the strapless/backless band really holds in place. You can wear the pouch with dress pants, work pants, or anything type of pants. The mesh version has a built-in cock ring for extra enhancement! I wore this pair to work a few days ago; it felt as if I went commando! That is how sheer and comfortable the new pouch is. We have been in overdrive lately making sure that every single stitch is perfect for you. This offshore manufacturing concept that once was the "only" way really is not up to par for the Mckillop Consumer.

We are getting better and better every season and we feel it is because we listen to our customers and because we have the highest standards. Mckillop UW is not a profit machine we design and execute quality. We use a combination of machines and secure our seams with actual sewing machines (which is never done anymore) it's weird to say hand made because you would think that is a needle and thread but by industry standards Mckillop UW is hand made.

Our new focus is to tailor our products with better construction and to bring our manufacturing back to North America regardless of price for us. There are too many jobs lost here and we want them back, and manufacturing local also reduces our carbon foot print as our products are closer to home.

Mens Wear Review of Mckillop 2.0

A little over a year ago, I wrote my first review of the McKillop Jock and pouch just as they were getting started – you can read the review of the McKillop 1.5 here or the McKillop no. 3 pouch review here. It’s always fun to come back to an up-and-coming brand after they’ve had a year under their belts (no pun intended – well maybe a little).

Today, I’m please to report on the McKillop Classic 2.0 Mesh Pouch; boy oh boy am I glad I came back to McKillop for a second look. My first reviews of McKillop were good with a few suggestions as a new brand. Today, my suggestions and those of their customers have been incorporated into their latest designs. The McKillop No. 2.0 Pouch I tried was the black mesh; now you probably know by now I’m a huge fan of mesh when constructed well.

The McKillop U/W Classic 2.0 Pouch is made from a sheer, breathable mesh material. The material selection and quality of workmanship is high. The mesh was soft and comfortable and made from a blend of 90% cotton and 10% spandex and comes in white or black – I chose black.

The overall comfort of the pouch was wonderful. Under jeans I prefer the feel of the McKillop pouch over that of a thong or jock. You have support and comfort with a freedom feeling. You might expect an overly free feeling, but I can say the pouch, especially when worn with the support ring keeps things in place. I found myself wearing the pouch with and without the support ring and was equally comfortable. If you’re looking for a little lift, the support ring (made of cloth) will do the trick.

All-in-all, I was very happy with my McKillop U/W 2.0 Pouch. Comfort, quality, and style have all come together for a fantastic piece of underwear. At $23 they’re not cheap, but you get what you pay for – quality that is, not coverage. I can easily recommend these to you. If you’re a jock or thong fan, you’ll love the freedom and comfort of the McKillop pouch.

Also, I have my hands on their lasted addition – the McKillop Pouch made from Modal!! Can’t wait for the review – stay tuned….

Locally I like to climb mountains (the grind), ski, kayak and the occasional 10 km run. Walking along the beach sounds like a cliché but when the pacific is 2 blocks away you can’t help it. When I do break away I love to get down to LA or other travel destinations for some fun. I am not a usual work, gym eat, guy, each day is totally different from the last; I am constantly trying to better myself. I like to read and learn new things, open my mind spiritually and as for the gym I find it boring and I am totally happy with my skinny broad physique, I’d rather just go for a rollerblade and try not to kill myself. Drinks or coffees with friends that challenge me, is my favorite pastime.

Just like a pair of jeans there are little sewn tacks in the 4 corners and you can just cut it off if you like. We are looking into screen printing our label for our 2012 items but we have heard that they feel plastic-y against the skin but we will do some tests and make sure that they are up to the Mckillop quality of softness that you deserve.

I was in NYC on Sept 9 2001 and I returned 4 months later, I experienced first hand the effects of 9-11 and how it changed the face of NYC and the USA.

The spirit of a country and a world had been changed. One would think it lasts forever, but it doesn't, it turned fear, insecurity, pain and grief into pride and honour for their service men and women therefore strengthening the American people, and us All.

I cannot imagine what the first responders or families of the lost are going through today but you have the entire world sending them love, prayers and support.

I no longer want to think of 9-11 as the burning of buildings and plane crashes, we all have those images in our heads for life, how I would like to remember 9-11 from this point on is the children of the lost parents growing up with happy fulfilled lives full of love and support. It is hard growing up without a parent(s) and I ask everyone to send your blessings today to those children and teens of the lost and wounded to give them strength today.

Modal is a processed bio-based textile made from reconstituted cellulose from the beech tree. It is very soft and popular for both clothing and household textiles such as bedding, upholstery, and towels. Modal may be used on its own or in a blend with cotton, spandex, or other textiles. In many ways, modal acts like cotton, but it also has some significant advantages over cotton.

Modal is considered a type of rayon. While rayon may be made of the wood pulp of a number of different trees, modal uses only beechwood. Modal is considered bio-based rather than natural because, though the raw materials used to make it are natural, they are heavily processed using a number of chemicals.

Like other types of rayon, originally marketed as "artificial silk," modal is soft, smooth and breathes well. Its texture is similar to that of cotton or silk. It is cool to the touch and very absorbent. Like cotton, modal dyes easily and becomes color-fast after submersion in warm water.

I haven't Vlogged since Feb and the main reason was that I never got a proper camera. So yesterday I thought why not give it a try.

So in my scruffy face I walked around Vancouver taking you to places that have a little meaning for me in the creation of Mckillop UW 2 years ago.

I will Vlog weekly about the inside workings of our designs and business. I will also join you more often on a personal note talking about experiences rather then the business.

I play World of Warcraft and Dungeons & Dragons, I love cheesy B-rated horror movies, comic books and fantasy novels and cool sci-fi TV shows (i’m looking at you, Fringe!). I have a huge passion for anything involving Zombies, especially the old-school Romero era. I’m not your typical Nerd that’s socially awkward or can’t say a word in public. "The Help" Movie Review

Having not read the book and making the decision to see The Help in theatres based on the movie trailer itself was a little misleading.

I thought I was going to see a comedy but instead I watched a light but gut wrenching story that took you through segregation in the 1950's. It did get progressively funnier and of course a feel good hilarious ending. It wasn't what I was expecting but It is a great movie with a very interesting perspective, it was longer then most movies but was throughly entertained.

As the credits rolled up I wondered if I was going to give it a "See in Theatres" or a "Wait till Video". And to be honest I couldn't make up my mind.

But if I had to choose I guess I would pick Video.

I was watching Our America with Lisa Ling last night and I must say I am not sure how I feel about it. It is very dark but with that being said I feel that she does a great job at being unbiased in her percpective of real struggles that occur.

Life is not all roses and she goes deep into subjects that.. really has never been done before. So like a deer in headlights I continued watch and even though I cannot say "I love it" I don't think that feeling will ever come cause it is not warm and fuzzy topics.

But I would suggest giving it a try and make your own call.

Hotels.com Under Fire

Also this week I got an email through a Facebook network I belong to and they are giving Kudos to companies that are not providing funding or contributions to anti gay or hate groups. In the very same email Hotels.com was under fire publicly outing them for having a link to a Christian network that funded an anti gay marriage group, It asked all recipients to post on Facebook to stop funding hate groups and the gay community came out in droves to post their comments. Within 24 hours all the links to the religious group were gone. It is so nice to see that the gay community can still rally together to fight a great cause and especially from a whole new angle. Rather then just ask for gay rights they are trying to eliminate the hate that is the backbone of the opposition.

Telephone company markets to gay and transgender community

Yesterday I thought I was hearing it wrong, I was listening to the radio and I heard the word transgender and my ears perked up. Telus the Canadian cell phone company has launched a new brand called Caya, This is only available in the gay area of town (Vancouver) and they have made it like a coffee shop meets music store meets swanky lounge, I saw the stores pop up but until I heard them directly addressing the gay community especially the struggles in being unique with transgendered individuals I didn't take notice.

People are always trying to target to the gay community but I have never heard it so direct. I am really happy to see that beyond gay marriage there are still steps being taken by businesses to fully accept the LGBT community and Telus or Caya has taken a huge leap of faith in this project and I tip my hat to them.

Sept 9 is closely approaching us. The New Mckillop Pouches have larger pouches, and they are in more sophisticated fabrics. The elastics are all new as well, they are double layered to prevent those nasty dark stripes that you can see through the elastic. This collection spanning through 2012 has been 2 years in the making and we are so happy to have you along this journey with us.

We must mention that due to summer vacations and the 2012 production requirements have kept us from blogging daily like we used to but we will blog more in Sept when everyone is back to work.
